Atkins Averaging 25 PPG; Leads Vidalia to # 1 Ranking

Devin Atkins (2012 - PG; Vidalia High)
Senior Guard Devin Atkins (5' 7, PG, Vidalia, 2012) is having a fantastic senior season for Vidalia High School. Atkins is averaging 25 ppg for the Indians, who are currently 15-1 and ranked as the state's # 1 team in Class AA (according to latest Atlanta Journal Constitution poll). He might very well be the top outside shooter in the Peach State, as is converting an eye popping 50% of shot attempts from three-point land (65 for 130). This is despite seeing double teams almost every game. Atkins is more than an outside threat. He handles the ball well, has the ability to keep the defense honest with penetration, and has an effective floater in the lane.

Head Coach Tommy Dalley is one of the State's Top Coaches and in three years has built the Vidalia program into a genuine AA State Power. In addition to this year's terrific start, the Indians finished with an impressive 24-5 record last season. Atkins has been a major factor in that success. The three year starter, who was named First Team All-Region and Honorable Mention All-State last year as a Junior, has stepped into a featured role this season.

At 5' 7", Atkins is never going to be the tallest player on the floor. But he almost always brings "big" game.  Atkins could be a very nice pickup for college coach seeking a PG who can score. Be on the lookout for Vidalia to be a strong contender for the 2A State Crown this March!
