Connor Smith of Oglethorpe University has been named the SAAC Male Athlete of the Week.
The SEBA Alum and St. Francis graduate put forth a good two-game performance this week at the Stormy Petrel Tipoff Classic in Atlanta, leading the squad to season-opening wins over Spalding and Boyce. In the midnight, season-opening contest against Spalding, he scored 15 points and passed out two assists while knocking down three 3-pointers and 4-of-4 free-throw attempts. Later that day against Boyce, he was even better, scoring 14 points on 4-of-6 three-point shooting and 2-of-2 from the foul line. For the weekend, he averaged 14.5 points per game while shooting 43.8 percent from beyond the arc and knocking down all six of his free throws.
Connor and the rest of the Oglethorpe Team will travel to Tacoma, Wash., for the Doug McArthur Classic this weekend. They'll take on Pacific Lutheran Friday at 7 p.m. Eastern before battling host Puget Sound Saturday at 11 p.m. Eastern.
Congrats Connor and keep up the good work!
