Multiple SEBA players were standout performers in the 2014 Dalton Holiday Classic played over the Thanksgiving Holidays at Dalton High School.
The Championship game of the eight team tournament matched up
host Dalton High with Paulding County on Saturday evening. Paulding County came
into the game playing extremely well with a 2-0 record under new Head Coach
Kevin Hamitt. SEBA’s Yancy St. Germain (6’0, SG, 2015)
set a Paulding County school record for
points in the semi-final win with a 35 point outburst over Northwest Whitfield.
Dalton won their first two games and a spot in the final
behind strong play from SEBA performers Braxton
Thomas (5’ 11, PG, 2015) and Emier
Bowman (6’ 4, Wing, 2015).
The Championship Game was a tough battle with the lead
changing back and forth throughout the evening. Dalton eventually prevailed
with some key baskets down the stretch.
Braxton Thomas was named the Tournament MVP with 26 points
in the final. Joining him on the All-Tournament team was Yancy St. Germain, who
finished with 17 points on the night. Braxton and Yancy were teammates on the
Atlanta based FCI Warriors AAU team this past summer.
Fellow SEBA player and FCI Warrior teammate Jaquay Thompson (6’ 4, Wing, 2015) had
a good showing at the tournament, averaging
12ppg and 7 rebounds in three games.
Paulding County’s Malik Rush also had a good showing and
was named to the All-Tourney team along with Dalton’s Emier Bowman.
Exciting to see that hard work paying off on the court.
Congrats to all of these young men on a great start to the 2014-15 season!
