Douglas County Captures Fall League Title
The Atlanta Roundball Report was on site Saturday at Pope High School in Marietta as the finals were played in the 2010 SEBA Metro Atlanta Fall League. The Championship Game matched up the Douglas County Tigers versus the Etowah Eagles. The game was well played and both teams brought an energy and high level intensity not often found in Fall games. After going back and forth, Douglas County prevailed by the score of 78-74. The Tigers received excellent all around play from 6' 4 Vantrail Commings, who scored 19 points, pulled 7 boards, and dished out 5 assists. Commings shot a perfect 12 for 12 from the charity stripe. Also playing well for the Tigers was Point Guard Devante Orebeau (14 points, 5 assists, 4 steals), 6' 3 Wing Richard Kelly (13 points), and 6' 5 Jaumonee Byrd (12 Points, 6 rebounds).
Etowah received excellent performance from Austin Miramonti (6' 1, PG, 2011) in a terrific effort that fell just short. The standout Eagle senior guard scored 31 points in the game, including seven (7) made 3-point field goals. 2012 Guard Derrico Peck (6' 5, SG, 2012) also played very well for Etowah, scoring 17 points and exhibiting several outstanding blocked shots and athletic plays around the rim.
The Championship game capped off the successful Fall League organized by the Southeast Basketball Academy (SEBA). Be on the look out for Etowah and Douglas County to be strong contenders in each of their respective regions this coming winter.
