2013 SEBA Atlanta Hoop Festival Recap

The 2013 SEBA Atlanta Hoop Festival was held this past Saturday at Pope High School in Cobb County. The 6th Annual Event featured twelve (12) Varsity Boys Teams from throughout Metro Atlanta. The Invitational showcased several top ranked teams including defending state champion and Class AA current # 1 ranked Greater Atlanta Christian, who matched up with Class A Power North Cobb Christian in the 8:30 p..m. headliner. All in all, there was an impressive collection of College prospects who participated in the event; including over 25 players who have either signed, committed, or are being recruited at the Division I Level. 

Here is a recap of the Festival's results: 

Greater Atlanta Christian 71, North Cobb Christian 56: 
Isaiah Wilkins (pictured above) scored 26 to lead all scorers and win the most outstanding player award for Greater Atlanta Christian, which took a 28-9 lead in the first half. North Cobb Christian would close to within 35-33 in the third quarter, but Wilkins and the Spartans dominated the fourth quarter. Crute finished with 14 while teammate and North Cobb Christian’s most outstanding player Stephon Jelks had 10 points and 13 rebounds. Trey Kalina led NCC with 15 points. For GAC, Troy Morrison had 16 and Garrett Covington added 12.

Pope 58, Starr’s Mill 52: 
Chase Hutchins scored 23 points while Cole Childers had 20 as the tournament hosts, which trailed 24-23 at the half. The two were named co-most outstanding players for the Greyhounds. Jeremiah Vrudney led Starr’s Mill with 17 points and was named the Panthers’ most outstanding player.

McEachern 47, Berkmar 36:
 Logan McIntosh had 18 points and Freddy Brown added 17 for McEachern. Jonathan Sanks led Berkmar with 13. Sanks and McIntosh were each named most outstanding player for their respective teams.

Blessed Trinity 53, Kennesaw Mountain 49: 
The Titans’ Chris Bertrand was named his team’s Most Valuable Player after leading Blessed Trinity with 12 points. Connor O’Neill added 11. Kennesaw Mountain’s Andrew Jimenez led all scorers with 21 and was named the Mustangs’ Most Outstanding Player. Nigel Hayes had 15 for Kennesaw Mountain.

St. Pius 58, Sprayberry 55: 
Armel Potter led all scorers with 25 points but it was not enough as the Golden Lions pulled out the win. Will Maguire led St. Pius with 15 while Nick Harris added 12. Nkem Ojeh had 12 for Sprayberry. Potter was named the Jackets’ Most Outstanding Player of the game while Maguire earned the same distinction for St. Pius. The Golden Lions led 31-25 at the half.

Paulding County 76, Pebblebrook 58: 
Michael Hemphill had 15 points to lead Paulding County. Ty Hudson led all scorers with 21 and Thrae Mitchell added 20 for Pebblebrook. Derrick Cook had 12 for the Falcons. Hemphill and Hudson were named Most Outstanding Players for their respective teams.
